Ziwani breeds
At Ziwani Poultry we now have an additional five different chicken breeds into our breeds, they can be reared as kienyeji chicken in a free range setting or commercially.
They are dual purpose but are better for eggs as they lay more eggs than any of the other Kienyeji breeds that we have in Kenya; better than KARI or Kuroiler.
Our new breeds lay over 290 eggs per year at 78 weeks of age and feed commercial feeds. They also lay a good number of eggs in a free range setting >250.
The Breeds are:- Ziwani SUSSEX, Ziwani BARRED SUSSEX, Ziwani TINTED, Ziwani RED TRICOLOR and Ziwani BLACK. They are attractive coloured breeds that can be reared commercially, small scale and free range production conditions. This breed are results of cross breeding world known laying breeds of chicken; Rhode Island Red, White Leghorn, Light Sussex and Barred Plymouth Rock. They were crossed with mainly the Barred/Tricolor Male. Click each breed above for more information about it; eggs production, feeds consumption, chicken and egg weight, egg shell colour etc ….
All of the F1 can be sexed either by colour or feathers for easy segregation of day old hen and cockerel chicks.
The strategy of the selection is to support the Kienyeji industry; the adaptability, flexibility and robustness in the breeds for the village conditions.
We have the parent stock, therefore the farmer will be getting F1 from Ziwani Poultry.
We are only selling Day old chicks in the above breeds at a very friendly cost of Ksh100 each for strain run (as they come from the incubator) or Ksh120 for sexed chicks, therefore is you want to select the number of females and males the cost would be Ksh120 ($1.2).

Yes they consume the same feeds, info regarding when they star laying will be found on each breeds table at the bottom of the page, click on each breed and read about it.

good work you are doing. am in a family where we hatch kurolier chicks thru incubators but the problem is we neva get f1 eggs from farmers though they claim to be 1st generation. please advise me on this, can we keep our own kuroiler chicken as breeding stock and do you have them please

Yes you can keep your own and get their eggs, that will be F2. i wold advice you to keep females and get males from a different source. so come and buy the females from us.
