Ziwani SUSSEX is an attractive white with a black tail and wings breed with  that can be reared commercially, small scale and free range production conditions.

This breed is very similar to the native breed Sussex Light (white with black tail and wings), but our breed have yellow skin just like Kienyeji chicken and use feather sexing.

This bird is adapted for sub-optimal and harsh production conditions for free range and small scale farming by our customers in Kenya, Uganda Tanzania and now Somalia.

The big advantage of this breed is high egg productivity >300 brown shell eggs at 74 weeks of age (if they are feed commercial layer feeds).

Ziwani SUSSEX is result of crossing paternal Sussex stock with slow feathering maternal stock. Day old chicks are feather sexed. Day old cockerel chicks are slow feathering and day old hen chicks are fast feathering.

The F1 Both Cockerels and hen chicks will be the same colour (white with black tail and wings), therefore they are feather sex unlike Ziwani BARRED SUSSEX breed where you can do colour sexing at day old.

The strategy of the selection is to support the Kienyeji industry; the adaptability, flexibility and robustness in the bird for a village conditions.

We are only selling Day old chicks in the above breeds at a very friendly cost of Ksh100 each for strain run (as they come from the incubator) or Ksh120 for sexed chicks, therefore is you want to select the number of females and males the cost would be Ksh120 ($1.2).
